Thomas Vows Office will pursue Anti-Bullying Campaign

For Immediate Release:

Candidate Luke Thomas reaffirmed his commitment to help rid bullying in our schools and neighborhoods.

"While many of the tragedies in our Nation's schools are complex, bullying and a desire to 'get-even'are an overwhelmingly common theme.

Rather than blame inanimate objects or political preferences, I think there are several things we can do locally to reach our at-risk youth.  I will make my office a resource to combat bullying."

Thomas plans to make information about bullying publicly available at the courthouse and will have an open-door policy for youth who may need assistance with problems they are facing.

"I will be happy to serve as a point of contact and listener until we can get professional assistance for problems children may be facing.  I will use my office to help spread the word that bullying is something we can no longer tolerate and explain some of the legal consequences for action or inaction."

"More times than not, when judges speak, people listen.  I see one of the duties of the Office of Resident Judge to engage in community outreach on topics that ultimate relate to the law and safety in our communities."
